CIO COUNCIL RELEASES GUIDE FOR FEDERAL IT WORKFORCE MANAGEMENT

The Chief Information Officers Council Monday released a guide to help federal agencies comply with information technology workforce management regulations.

The guide was compiled by the Office of Personnel Management and the CIO Council Workforce Committee to “provide contextual information (in one document) to the CIO and human capital communities on IT Workforce planning and IT training guidance.”

The guide presents a timeline displaying previous IT workforce policies and initiatives and also lists upcoming important dates.

OPM and the CIO Council have also outlined federal IT managers’ goals and requirements required by the President’s Management Agenda, the E-Government Act of 2002 and the Clinger-Cohen Act.

The guide also contains a chart displaying the responsibilities of the CIO Council, OPM and the Office of Management and Budget.
